In December 2009 we worked on a project in Skondal on the outskirts of Stockholm. The project required 4 containerised generator sets to be lifted from transport and positioned on steel supports. The containers had been shipped from Belfast by a subcontract haulier, we arranged for a local crane company to supply a 250 tonne Liebherr crane, complete with 96 tonnes of counterweight, to work to our method statement. The containers were lifted and positioned in a safe and timely manor in daylight hours, of which there are not many in December in Stockholm. We revisited the site on 2 more occasions during December to build up and fit exhaust systems and snow hoods (to protect the cooling fans) to the generator containers. Careful and thorough planning resulted in the successful completion of our part in this project. Special thanks to Binsell, the crane company, and all the people working on the project for their professional conduct and warm hospitality.
